Beyond Business:How to close anyone, anywhere at anytime

August 25th, 2006

Well lets just say you need a little bit of skill and luck but mainly you need to be persistent, articulate and be able to read a person just by the sound of there voice and how they use there words in a conversation…are you guys still following me or what?…Or are you guys all just sitting there going I can do this no problem, like I can make cold calls blind…I can Read the rest of this entry »

My Adios

August 24th, 2006

Goodbyes are never easy and I do my best to avoid them, but hence our internship has come to and end and I must prepare to turn another corner in my life. Over the past three months I have lowered all of my walls, stepped on toes and in turn had mine crunched too… I opened my heart and soul to six other people Read the rest of this entry »

Until the Next Time

August 24th, 2006

The time has come where my day–not weeks–and minutes–not hours are limited in Costa Rica. Soon I will pay my last Costa Rican exit visa and board the jet plane—not sure when I’ll be back again. Therefore, it is time for my reflection Read the rest of this entry »

August 23rd, 2006

Recently Lindsay had the marvelous idea to pamper ourselves at the salon. However, neither of us would have been able to predict what was about to happen to us. We made a walk-in appointment for facials Read the rest of this entry »

Solo Do It!

August 21st, 2006

Pacuare RiverIf this is not the title of everyone else’s blog I will be surprised. This was the theme of my last weekend as a Poker Intern in Costa Rica, which is also what I consider to be one of the top five experiences of my entire life. I feel very bad for the unfortunate interns that stayed back home or went other places, but I am sure they all had a good time; just not as good of a time as they could have!

Here we are on Friday, we haven’t planned our weekend at all (what is new), and so we decided to go river rafting. Actually I think this was the original plan of my first weekend here, but of course we never follow through with anything until right before we leave. After thorough perusing of the Internet we decide to go rafting on the Pacuare River in eastern Costa Rica. It is said to be one of the five best river rafting trips in the entire world Read the rest of this entry »

Bridges

For only the second time since my arrival to Costa Rica I went to the interior for the weekend instead of the beach. This interior visit consisted of a four hour busride into middle of the Costa Rican jungle, to a small world famous place by the name of Read the rest of this entry »

I Am Bubble Gum – NYC

August 11th, 2006

The aches.  The pains.  NYC chewed me up and spit me out like an old piece of bubble gum –worn down and tasteless. The trip started out like a piece of “Juicy Fruit- it’s gonna move ya.”  Full of a new found vigor, the steady hum of the city stole my heart from the very first moment we met.
Overwhelming with color, flavor, style, and courage- it is a massive melting pot of hope.  It was like a shot of liquid fire that set my soul burning for a change.  Little did I know it would shoot Read the rest of this entry »

“How Shawn ended up in Costa Rica.”

August 9th, 2006

Hey Shawn, How did you end up in Costa Rica?

I talked to a friendly guy named Jon from Texas Tech today. He’s playing in the Bust The Interns tournament, and he was curious about the AP internship and how I got it. Well kiddies, buckle up, because here’s the story.
